Caring For Your Mini Blinds
|
Mini blinds are a great addition to any home. If you want to keep your mini blinds looking great, however, you will need to make sure to clean them properly and regularly. When it comes to cleaning mini blinds, you have three primary options to select from. These include: ![]() Vacuuming the mini blinds Dusting the mini blinds Washing the mini blinds When vacuuming your mini blinds, you should use the brush dust head attachment. With the attachment properly in place, tilt the slats of the mini blinds up and down so you can reach the top and the bottom surface of the slates. This way, you can thoroughly clean all parts of the blinds. If you wish to dust your mini blinds rather than vacuum them, you will need to use a soft clean cloth or a dust cloth that has been chemically treated. Then, follow the same procedure as you would follow with a vacuum. Dusting the mini blinds can be more effective than vacuuming because it allows you to do a more thorough job. On the other hand, dusting can be more time-consuming than a quick vacuum. Your third option is to wash the mini blinds. This is the most time consuming of all three options, but will certainly clean the blinds the most thoroughly. When washing mini blinds, you should use a damp sponge or cloth along with a mild detergent. You can use either warm water or cold water when washing mini blinds. In either case, you will once again need to move the slats up and down so you can reach all of the surfaces of the slates. When washing mini blinds, you will need to take the necessary precautions to protect the floor beneath the blinds. Generally, placing a towel on the floor is sufficient. You should also place a towel on the sill in order to prevent water and detergent from gathering in this location. If safeguarding the floor and the sill seems like too much of a hassle when washing mini blinds, you can take the blinds down instead. In this case, you can submerge them entirely in a tub filled with soapy water. Then, rinse them clean and wipe them dry. Or, you can allow the blinds to air dry before placing them on your window again. If you have wood mini blinds, your cleaning method will vary somewhat. With real wood mini blinds, you should avoid washing because the dampness can cause the wood to warp or can lead to discoloration. Therefore, you should stick with dusting with a soft dust cloth or with vacuuming the blinds with the brush attachment. |
